Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads
Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:
After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.
The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.
“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”
Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.

🛡️ ByteDance Seed Builds a Frontier-Safety Unit
ByteDance’s Seed safety department creates a formal home for alignment, preparedness, and frontier-risk research. The team will develop model specifications, safety evaluations, alignment training, protective systems, and monitoring, while improving safeguards for autonomous agents and addressing chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear risks.
Safety is becoming an organizational priority, not merely a model feature.

🎭 Meta’s Muse Wonder Faces the How I AI Test
Claire Vo put Meta’s Muse Wonder models through the How I AI benchmark across coding, agentic workflows, writing, prototyping, and creative tasks. The evaluation highlighted strong computer use, inbox management, voice orchestration, and long-running work, giving Meta’s systems a notable showing against competing frontier models.
Agentic versatility may matter more than isolated benchmark scores.
⛓️ OpenWorld Moves to Acquire Blocksight
OpenWorld signed a definitive agreement to acquire Blocksight, combining blockchain infrastructure with AI-focused capabilities. The transaction signals continued consolidation among companies building foundational technology for decentralized applications, data networks, and intelligent services, while potentially giving OpenWorld broader technical assets and a faster route into adjacent markets.
Infrastructure deals are becoming a strategic shortcut into AI’s next layers.
🧬 HITS Raises 18.3 Billion Won for AI Biotech
AI biotech platform HITS’s Series B brought in 18.3 billion won, led by Premier Partners. The financing gives HITS additional resources to expand computational drug-discovery capabilities, strengthen platform development, and pursue commercial growth as pharmaceutical research increasingly depends on software that can interpret complex biological data.
Capital is following AI platforms that can translate biology into actionable development decisions.

🧪 BioStudyBench Tests Post-Cutoff Research
BioStudyBench introduces 25 biomedical research tasks designed to test whether AI agents can reason with unfamiliar data, tools, and evidence. By emphasizing post-cutoff questions, the benchmark targets genuine investigation rather than memorized answers, creating a tougher test of scientific reliability and tool-assisted discovery.
Useful research agents must investigate, not simply retrieve.
🧰 Mucore Exposes the Occupational Benchmark Gap
Mucore reports that current AI benchmarks cover only roughly 5% of detailed tasks across American occupations, according to its occupational task analysis. That gap leaves substantial real-world work—especially nuanced, role-specific activity—outside conventional evaluation, limiting what benchmark scores can reveal about workplace readiness.
AI evaluation needs to measure complete jobs, not convenient fragments.
🚨 Scientists Demand Stronger AI Containment
More than 400 scientists are calling for international containment standards, mandatory incident reporting, and tougher isolation requirements. Their warning reflects concern that increasingly capable systems could amplify cyber threats and other harms faster than voluntary safeguards or fragmented national rules can respond.
Containment is moving from technical practice toward international governance.
🍽️ Taste-Bench Scores Agents at Decision Forks
Taste-Bench evaluates whether AI agents select better paths when tasks branch into competing options. Leading systems succeeded only about 60% of the time, suggesting that capable execution still depends on strategic judgment, uncertainty management, and recognizing when an apparently efficient route may create downstream problems.
The next agent race will test judgment at forks, not just task completion.
🌡️ Cadence Accelerates 3D Chip Thermal Design
Cadence and Notre Dame researchers developed an AI-accelerated thermal solver for heterogeneous 2.5D and 3D chip packages. The approach targets difficult heat-management calculations as advanced packaging stacks more components into tighter spaces, potentially shortening design cycles while helping engineers identify thermal bottlenecks earlier.
Better thermal modeling could unlock denser, more reliable AI hardware.
🤖 Agents Learn to Audit One Another
Researchers from Stanford, Together AI, and Emory introduced self-organizing agent teams that review and repair one another’s reasoning. Instead of relying on a single model’s answer, the framework distributes critique, diagnosis, and correction across cooperating agents, pointing toward systems that can improve reliability through structured internal oversight.
Multi-agent critique could become a practical layer of AI quality control.
